Man faces charges over stolen identity

Identity theft is a serious accusation to face. It's punishable by high fines and many years in prison. If you're accused of a crime this like, it's important for you to put together a defense for your case.

Take, for example, a case out of Kingston, where a man has been charged with felony identity fraud as well as other charges. He has now been released on bond, but the 37-year-old man is accused of being in possession of another person's credit card without her permission or knowledge. He made three purchases using the card, adding up to around $170. He allegedly signed the woman's name on the receipt during one of the transactions.

According to the report out of the Floyd County Jail, the man was picked up on a warrant for this crime, which took place in November.

Identity theft is a serious crime, and you could face imprisonment

Identity theft is taken seriously. As a federal crime, you could face penalties such as thousands in fines and years in prison. It's always important for anyone accused of fraud charges, like identity theft, to have a strong defense. There are sometimes explanations for using another person's identity, and not all people do so intentionally or without permission.

If you are accused of identity theft, your attorney will talk to you more about what to expect. Depending on the charges and how many counts you face, you may want to know more about plea deals and negotiating to reduce the impact of these accusations on your life and freedoms.
